Cycle Lanes - Proper Neighbourhood Consent

Controversy about cycle lanes occurs because of the suspicion that they will be imposed by Sefton without either objectives being clear or support from communities -simply because the money is available. This is not right way to proceed and where benefits are not obvious or the community won over the Council should be prepared to revise or drop plans.Common sense and not dogmatic support or opposition should prevail as we all want a safer and cleaner environment. This petition is designed to make sure that the Council get that message. Please sign it.

We, the undersigned, call upon Sefton Council not to proceed with Cycle Lane and Liveable Streets schemes UNLESS, following fair and open consultation there is both majority neighbourhood support from affected residents AND a clear and published way of assessing the success and failure of any such schemes.

No scheme or plan should be proceeded with that lacks either clear majority neighbourhood support or a way in which its success and failure can be measured.
